Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak (MAIS) is a custodian of some of the most rare collections of oral tradition of the major ethnic group of Sarawak such as Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu and Melanau. Some collections are in the form of audio, video and photographs. The audio materials are stored in analogue media such as magnetic tapes and prints. In order to save and preserve the rare collections, Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak is working closely with the Sarawak Information Resource Council (SITRC) to digitise the materials into an efficient digital format in order to increase the efficiency of their archival system. Today, about few hundred titles of the oral tradition are now in digital formats which can be used by researchers and interest groups.
